Beecroft Whippets are Grand Final Bound

A resounding 89-0 victory over Sydney High Old Boys has secured the Beecroft U85kg “Whippets” a spot in this week’s Grand Final against top-of-the-table Mosman.
The semi-final, initially scheduled for Wednesday night, was moved to Thursday after a last-minute closure of Headen Park by Hornsby Council on Wednesday afternoon. As result, a large part of the initial squad was unavailable, due to work and other commitments. Despite this, and the cold, wet and muddy conditions, the Whippets played brilliantly, running in 13 unanswered tries, with kicker Ben Robinson converting all but one of them.
They go on to play top of the table Mosman in the grand final this Wednesday night, 8pm, at Rawson Park, Mosman. We encourage everyone who is available to get down there and support the boys.
The grand final squad is listed below with the starting team announced at a special Whippets’ training session on Tuesday night.
Aaron Bayliss; Aidan Holden (TBC – Injury?); Alex Bedwany; Alex Jones; Angus Donovan; Angus Lumsden; Angus Robertson; Ben Ashwood; Ben Gillies; Ben Robinson (vc); Ben van Steele; Dave O’Connor; David Foley; David Matthias; Glen Charlton; James Wilson; Jayden Alexanderson; Joel Carter (c); Levi Broughton-Rouse; Luke McKerrell; Matt O’Neill (TBC – Injury?); Robbie Henderson; Simon Wybenga; Thomas Wright; Tim MacRae; Trent Monaghan.
Last week’s victory should serve as a firm warning to the men of the North Shore: look out Mosman – the Beecroft Whippets are lean, mean, and ready to Whippet: Whippet good.
